| Customer Reviews: Good Basic Guide June 2, 2010 Mr. Kenley C. Vogt (Penfield, New York 14526) I bought this to help me set up a garden railroad. This is a good guide for beginners. It gave me plenty of ideas. Very useful tips on set up and construction of an outdoor garden railroad. A great book for begineers.
Informative Garden Railway book August 18, 2008 Totally loco! (Colorado) I bought this as part of a four book purchase including "Gorgeous Garden Railways" by Marc Horovitz and Pat Hayward (4 stars), "Garden Railroading: Getting Started in the Hobby" by Garden Railways Magazine (4 stars), and "Practical Garden Railways" by Peter Jones (2 stars).
Of the four this was, for me, the most informative covering more than just my LGB preference for Large Scale. It had solid information on all the basics as well as some nice pictures. Certainly worth the money.
GOOD READ FOR BEGINNERS September 12, 2005 Robert P. Stelpstra (NC, USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This was a cover to cover read in one sitting. Was very informative in most ways. But I was looking for more detail.I have been into model railroading a LONG time. But new to Garden RailRoads.
A Model Railroader Looks at Garden Railroading September 1, 2005 Paul D. Race (Springfield, OH United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the most organized and comprehensive single text on Garden Railroading that is currently in print. If my figures are correct, it is also the best-selling book on the subject. You will certainly save the cost of this book many times over as you use its guidelines to make effective planning and purchasing decisions.
